Gun Control: Labor Unions for Criminals

Whether we know it or not, there are brave men and women in the military. overseas who are fighting for their country’s freedom These people have been given the special task to protect and serve the people of its country. Law enforcement officers protect and serve their local cities But what if they do not come in the time of our need? Should we just submit ourselves into the hands of the bad guy, just because a certain law has failed to protect and even backfired on us?

It’s most likely that everyone has heard of stories where a victim was harmed or killed by a gunman. Every day on the news, there is at least one story of a gun-related crime. Fear has been spread to the hearts of a small group of people  of America. It has almost become an epidemic among them. These people want to stop the continuation of these crimes. What is their solution? GUN CONTROL.

What is gun control? What does that have to do with stopping such hideous crimes? Gun control is an EFFORT to regulate/restrict the purchase and possession of firearms. To some people, restricting or banning any firearms may help stop the contribution of gun-related crimes. This may prevent criminals from having access to guns. But wait, since when did criminals follow the law? Should America also ban sharp objects to protect surfers and swimmers from sharks? Should America also ban the use of illegal drugs to take drug use off the streets? Since we’re talking crazy here, how about the Chinese building a giant wall to protect themselves from invaders?

Guns have always played an important role in self-defense. But why have we not heard much news about an armed citizen protecting themselves from a criminal?

Gun Show Assault Weapon

Of course one may argue that martial arts can also be way to defend oneself. But what if there are more than one attacker? And at least one is armed with a knife, a baseball bat, or even a gun? It’s for a fact, that outlawing firearms will not stop criminals from having access to guns. If we strip the citizen of their right to own firearms, we are only benefiting the criminals.

Let’s talk about the Second Amendment. For anyone that doesn’t know, the Second Amendment says that, “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” The purpose of the U.S Bill of Rights is to protect the rights of the citizens of the United States. Clearly, this shows that owning fire arms is RIGHT not a privilege. Only a tyrant would infringe upon the rights of its citizens.

As mentioned above, stripping the law-abiding citizen of firearms will only benefit the criminal. Criminals do not follow the law, so why would they stop owning firearms just because the law says so. If we are going to ban firearms, we might as well put a sign on every home, bank, and convenient store welcoming all criminals.

Guns DO help protect and prevent people from crimes. According to statistics, 34% of felons in state prisons have been scared off, shot at, wounded, or captured by an armed victim. 40% of the felons decided not to commit a crime because they knew or suspected that the victim was carrying a gun. Again, most crimes are committed by people with a criminal record. These people DO NOT follow the law. Based on studies and statistics, out of the 1,662 murders committed in New York City during 2003-2005, more than 90% were committed by people with criminal records. If you would like to learn more on these statistics, you can read about them here.

I disarming citizens will not stop criminals. This will only empower them with the fact that their law-abiding victim will not be armed.

l would like to conclude with an important video on gun control.
